Copper Heads, Ticks and Poison Ivy Oh My!

Today was the Messenger of Peace Day of Service. This is and opportunity for scouts to give back to communities in the form of service. This is a project that scouts are doing all around the world. It's there way to share peace through service. Across the state of West Virginia communities are being served by the scouts here at the Jamboree. Our task today took us to an area near Coalwood, WV (the home of the rocket boys and October Sky). We were asked to clear brush along a trail and service road. It was an adventure that is for sure. As we have prepared for Jamboree we have been warned, cautioned and informed about three things. They are: Snacks (Copper Heads), Ticks and Poison Ivy. Well all three were present at this particular area and visualized by all. Don't worry all is well. The project was successful and completed. We were helping prepare and clean up an area that will be part of a campsite. Other troops were there as well doing the same as us, putting up benches along the trail and preparing campsites. The journey was a long one with it being 5 hours on a bus and 2 hours doing service. As you will see the boys were up and ready and down & out.
