Today began with our church service at the Chapel next to the Washington D.C Temple. We were treated to a young woman who received her Young Women's Medallion and then went on to recite the "Living Christ" word for word. Amazing! Church with 500 other scouts from the Utah National Parks Council was a treat. We then went into D.C. for a trip around the museums of the National Mall. We visited the Archive Museum home of our national documents, American History Museum, Natural History Museum, Air & Space Museum and the Botanical Gardens. Following the museums the troop ventured to the Capital steps and finished the evening with a Fireside at the Iwo Jima Memorial.
One of our most interesting visits today was at the National Botanical Garden. There is flower called "the Corpse Flower" which is about ready to bloom. This flower has some interesting characteristics in that it only blooms once every ten years. It has an amazing story and one that you can follow and update us on. This flower is supposed to bloom sometime in the next 24 hours or so. You can capture this amazing flower via a live stream at: http://usbg.gov/. Boys thought this was cool.
