Day 1 - Some Work, Some Fun!
The ride to the Summit was filled with naps and movies, but the highlight was the Jamboree Game Show. Almost all of the boys had an
opportunity to be a contestant. They chose questions from
categories like The Book of Mormon, Utah, California, and random facts of
a scoutmaster. Although all contestants won a prize, the smiles seemed
the biggest when the boys could reach into the gold bag and get a yo-yo.
Check-in went really well at
the Summit. The road went through camp from the south and we had the
opportunity to see Subcamps A and B as well as several of the activity
areas. It is a good thing that the bus
was built to handle all of us with our noses to the window as we looked on in
amazement. Seeing all of the tents layed
out over hundreds of yards and the ziplines overhead generated a lot of excitement.
We had the opportunity to turn our excitement into
work. One of our commissioners gave us some
instruction and we turned 3 pallets of supplies into our new home for the next
10 days. The boys were very helpful and
worked hard to get it all done and prepare our first meal. We were able to get our flags posted and our
banners up to make it our own special place.
We had a great start to our Jamboree camp!

Dining flies were a top priority. Fortunately they were for shade and not rain protection. |

First the tents and then the cots. |

We were all about hydration today. Drink, drink, drink! |
